What is Deskmate?
Deskmate is a desktop voice assistant with a digital avatar. It lives on your Windows or Linux desktop and can help with quick everyday tasks, optional screen context, and avatar reactions.
Is Deskmate free?
Deskmate has a free starting experience. Some voice minutes, avatars, creator features, or hosted provider usage may have limits or paid options as the product grows.
Does Deskmate see my screen all the time?
No. Screen context is optional. The app only uses screen sharing or screen-aware features when you choose to turn them on, and you can turn them off again from the toolbar.
Does Deskmate record my microphone?
Live voice features need microphone access while you are using them. Deskmate is designed around active voice sessions, clear permission prompts, and controls that let you stop listening.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. Deskmate supports bring-your-own-key provider settings. If you configure your own provider key, that provider choice takes priority over managed plan routing.
Which platforms are supported?
Deskmate is available for Windows and Linux. A macOS build is planned, and you can join the waitlist from the download page.
What is a digital avatar in Deskmate?
A digital avatar is the on-screen character that reacts while you use Deskmate. It gives the assistant a visible presence without needing a large chat window.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Account controls are available inside the app, and support is available through contact@deskmate.online if you need help with account or data questions.
